Today in class we get to see another video, but this time was about the Ottoman Empire. It showed the class the 3 important preconditions to form an empire. Migration, Mongol invasion and crusades.
Even though it looks obvious, I did not know in particular how an empire was formed and what the basics are to not only form it but to sustain it and defend it.
It was amazing to me how a single skill, which is horseback riding can be mastered and use in battle to take advantage of the unskilled enemy. Also, the hit-and-run technique can be a complete disaster to, which in this case was, the army lead by Romano's Diogenes. It is fascinating how class after class I am getting further and further inside of a such interesting part of history.

Like wise, I too left that class wanting to learn more. It is amazing how powerful and skilled these empires became. We hear and see so much about Greek and Roman Empires, it's great to learn about others like the Ottoman.
ReplyDeleteIt is interesting to think how Empires are formed and how power is obtained. Back in history it seems like if you wanted to start an empire and had some support than you could create a huge power. The Ottoman Empire turned into a huge power during that time in history. Only think it hard to start with one person.
